It is happening again. Yes, once again, we will be having out booth at Booth 3.08 at Amcorp Shopping Centre in Petaling Jaya. Jeannie and I have been asked to do another sales session. We have had so many requests to do this “meet and sell” session. We had so much of fun the last time round that we expect to have more fun this weekend.

I met with many subscribers and readers of leatherpoato.com at our last “MEET WITH ME SESSION”. The usual questions include “What is leatherpotato?” “Why leatherpotato?” Fun questions. They came to support leatherpotato.

Jeannie has a large and growing following as a batik influencer. Jeannie focuses on promoting the “localness” of her “La” Batik Cape Creations. These “La” Batik Cape Creations come in many colours, each to suit a different occasion. There are four ways of wearing these “La” Batik Cape Creations. Come on over to find out more on the colours, patterns, designs, which one brings “the real you out for every occasion” from the batik influencer.

At the same time, her craft section is also gaining popularity.

Come meet us. Together, we can explore new ideas.

We are adding new items to to sell. Many are rare, ranging from over 15 years to 25 years and beyond. Among these items is a rare ladies Swatch watch on offer.

There is also a brand new (box unopened) Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 (40mm). This is the latest on offering from Samsung in their line-up of highly efficient watches. Besides telling the time and looking great, it has a host of other features like step and distance tracking, exercise and fitness tracking, heartrate, B.I.A., Blood Pressure and ECG. You can also play your music song list, answer calls like in the comics, “Dick Tracy” style; select and change watchfaces from the thousands offered on Android…the list goes on.

I am bringing along many Hotwheels cars this weekend, that were not on sale 2 weeks ago. So, make sure you come and check them out.

The Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 and the ladies Swatch dress watch.

Made available for the very first time will be “CARS” from the movie “CARS” for sale. There is also a set of MINI cars and a set of James Bond cars in the offering, too.

BMW and MINI keyrings. In this picture, is a rare BMW Sauber FI Team key-ring, the very unusual “twin tailpipe” Mini keyring and the BMW 3 series keyring.

The BMW overnight bag. Brilliantly made, using some of the finest materials.

The BMW overnight bag is definitely a bag to have. Lovely olive green, with black / dark grey tones that compliment it. It has a long, well padded and comfortable, sturdy strap that makes carrying this bag when loaded, very comfortable.

Jeannie and I are looking forward to seeing you at our Booth 3.08. Let’s make it “carnival-like”. We could be the noisiest booth once again.

At Booth 3.08

At 6.00pm, our (Jeannie’s and my) two day adventure came to a close. From what started as a passing fancy a week ago about setting up a booth at the famous (here, I will use the word “famous” because it is) “flea market” in Amcorp Shopping Mall, to actually going through with it. And now, it is over.

Our booth was in between the famous (Yes, used the “famous” word again, and again; it is valid) “Ipoh Mari” Indian Muruku snacks booth; and Jay’s specialized high-tech printing and hot-pressing very detailed pictures on T-shirts.

We sure made many, many new friends. Farid again, was the first to see us in the morning. Jonathan, who purchased a couple of Hotwheels vehicles yesterday, came buy again, being one of the earliest and purchased a few more Hotwheels vehicles.

Another gentleman, who came by with his wife and two children yesterday, and purchased several Hotwheels vehicles and keyholders / key-chains; was one of the first to visit us this morning, this time without his family. He purchased more keyholders / key-chains. The ones I put up for sale are at least 30 years old. One can tell that these decorative devices to hold your keys secure, was of a different era just by looking at the locking mechanism. Today’s rings are the “coiled, leaf-type” rings.

We had a fashion icon CEO, a popular and influential Cosplayer, my classmate from school, his wife and their eldest son; and many, many collectors and hobbyists visit us at our booth.

It’s just past midnight. It has been quite a struggle piecing this article to where we are right now because my energy is completely drained out. Jeannie is drained out, too; having been asleep since around 9.00pm.

I will have a write-up about all of today’s excitement with lots of pictures, within a day or two. “til then, peace and love to you all.✌️❤️

Jeannie, setting up our booth this morning.

What a Day it Was

Having reached Amcorp Shopping Mall early, Jeannie and I had to lug all our wares from the carpark to the third floor. We set up our booth, arranged all the things that we were putting up for sale. Then, waited.

It wasn’t too long before Farid, our first visitor to our booth came along. We had a good nice chat, exchanged views and talked about the things that we put up for sale.

Not long after that, the kacang putih booth was set up and ready for action. Their various muruku and other Indian snacks are delicious. Temptation… temptation… haha!

Slowly but surely, visitors started streaming in to our booth. The Hotwheels cars was definitely an attraction as my collection that I put up for sale are at least 15 years old, still in their packs. More interesting…they are rare.

Another eye-catcher were the key-rings and keyholders. They were also rare, where most of them are 35 – 40 years old and rare.

People from the other booths came visiting, too. It was a real fun atmosphere. I dare say that our booth was the nosiest of the whole place, lots of loud laughter. Plus, I put the folderable table-piano on demo, so there was some music filling the air.

Liam, who studied in the U.S. came along. We had a nice chat on his studies in the U.S. and what he is doing now. He picked up a HotWheels semi-rare car. Then, there was Sam, Tan, a gentleman with his young children who helped him pick some Hotwheels models and key-holders.

Jeannie was outstanding as a promoter of our products. She took time to talk about and educate some people about batik, especially her batik cape pieces. She demo-ed her special batik cape, the likes of it has already made their way to the U.S., Singapore, Australia, Japan, New Zealand.

Jeannie is the renowned batik influencer. If you want to get your hands on one of these one-of-a-kind design per piece, in the world batik capes, you better come over tomorrow to Amcorp Shopping Mall to get your hands on at least one of these batik capes. Very limited pieces available.

Listening to “Men At Work” while writing this essay. They are so today as they were 40 years ago. Sidetracked. 😁

Patrick, Hazel and Mary Archibald dropped by and picked out several keyholders. Before long, Richard Kok came over with his grandson. Then, Jonathan who plays the drums and sells guitars, dropped by. He, too; picked out a Hotwheels rarity. We had Saras and Mohan, too.

We took the time to explain to people what Leatherpotato was all about and what it stood for. People scanned the QR code that we made available for information. For sure, there will be many new readers from today’s activities at the booth.

We started packing up and closed our booth by 5.30pm. It was a tiring, yet exciting day; where we were privileged to meet some readers and make new friends in the process. We thank all of you for coming over today and look forward to seeing you again tomorrow, as some of you have indicated that you will come over again.

Tomorrow, our second day of running the booth, promises to be even more exciting. Besides bringing many more possibly rare Hotwheels cars, we will have even more collectible bags, special key-holders from BMW, Mini and Jaguar. And for those of you who ask if I will sell my miniature Yamaha Harmonica key-holder; it is still not for sale.

There will be rare pens in the sales line-up: a 1998 MDRT Parker Duofold ballpoint pen, a 1991 Christian Dior, slim, ribbed Silver ballpoint pen, and Cross pens; too..

So, come on over where we can meet and you can support Leatherpotato.com . I definitely love to chat and get your views.

We will be at
Booth # 3.08, Level 3,
Amcorp shopping Mall
8, Jalan, Persiaran Barat, Seksyen 52 Petaling Jaya, 46050 Petaling Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia
Date: April 2, 2023
Time: 10.00am to 4.00pm (can be extended to 7.00pm)

The money raised will help cover most of the cost of running Leatherpotato.com for the coming year and to explore ideas and ways of taking Leatherpotato to the next level.

I look forward to meeting you there. Peace to all of you ✌️

Latest update: The folderable table-piano is sold!

MEET ME THIS WEEKEND

LEATHERPOTATO is going to be two years on the scene soon. I have had thousands of views from Over 75 countries.

From sharing my food experiences like cafes, restaurants and curry puffs to tech stuff. I figured I’d do something different. It’s a sort of an experiment.

I will make an announcement tomorrow. It’s going to be fun.

We can share ideas and views, too. For example: A.I. or Artificial Intelligence is the buzz phrase of the last 3 years. It was announced a couple of days ago that Elon Musk lead a large group of NGOs to warn of the dangers of the:
1. acceleration in the development of A.I.
2. if it got into the wrong hands,
3. it must be regulated
4. worse – if it cannot be controlled.

I have shared my thoughts and views on A.I. months ago. I have shared my thoughts and views on the over-dependence of the ever increasing intelligence of robots.

I will fill you in on the details tomorrow, March 31, 2023. Come and meet the renowned batik influencer, too.
