COFFEE AT 16°

Just before the clock struck 2.00pm; I was there for my 2.00pm appointment…on time. You have to be early to be on time. Being on time is being late.

I saw the signboard right above the entrance. I was at the right place.

I had just been out for my 10km+ walk, clocking up slightly over 15,000 steps. Weather was good. The sun was out but not blazing. There was a light breeze blowing over from time to time. It sought of kept me cool.

Had a shower as soon as I got home and felt very refreshed after that. Went through most of my message notifications briefly. I receive several hundred notifications from the various social media platforms, emails, voice notes, etc, each day. I schedule 30 minutes to 45 minutes each morning to tackle and respond to the many notifications. I schedule another 15 minutes to reply emails.

I repeat the schedule for each afternoon as well. Most of the notifications are urgent. The tricky part is to decide which are important and respond to them first. I put messages and calls from my family as important and usually give them preference above the rest.

This system of responding to notifications each day is good for me as it then allows me to concentrate on my work and projects that I am involved in. My aim is to “be yours” by not multitasking when I respond to all these messages and correspondence. Admittedly, some messages may take me days to respond unless I get a heads up from the sender or senders who may need a quicker response. This system works decently well and I will stick with it until something better comes along.

My cousin, Chris telephoned me (this is the old way of saying “called me up” or “called me on the telephone”) last morning to seek some information about renewing car roadtax in Malaysia. Pleasant surprise as we have not touched base in a long time. Chris suggested we meet up for coffee the next afternoon (that was this afternoon). I jumped on the idea.

Then, we met at 16 degrees (No…just in case you were wondering if we were going to meet the Three Degrees… we were not. They…long gone [street style talk😉])…

We met at the 16 degrees Cafe and restaurant. It is located in USJ 16, Subang Jaya. Nice restaurant. Serves various styles of coffees, tea, pastries and other eat delights.

It was good meeting Chris in person, after a long time. We caught up on past, present and future family matters. Chris and I are cousins due to the fact that our mothers are sisters.

We had many good laughs of the fun we had when we were much younger. Chris also talked a lot about my late brother, Nigel. Chris and Nigel were very close. They made it a point to meet at least once a week for dinner.

Chris is having tea and I; an Americano, with some pastries.

Chris had a small pot of tea; while I had an Americano, black with no sugar. We had a couple of pastries, too; of which one was a praline. The praline was nice but it was too sweet for me to finish it. I left more than half of it unfinished.

If you are in the neighborhood of USJ 16, Subang Jaya, and want a nice cosy setting and ambience to relax chat or even to do some work on your laptop; 16° Cafe could be the place for you. I believe they have a dining hall one floor up, which can be used for small group meetings, etc.

I left at about 4.30pm for the next item on my agenda.
