Smiles, Colours, Stories – The weekend was full of them. That it was.
In an essay I wrote last week, titled, “Vibrancy, Colours, Stories and Batik; The Weekend That Was”, (1) I had written in my recent article, “Seize The Moment With Batik and Sparks Of Joy” how fast each week goes by, that I am more convinced that the weeks have been shortened to just Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Now, it looks like the weekends are getting shorter too, may be shaving off some seconds here, and minutes there. Just as fast it comes, it seems to go faster.
It is for that reason why I talk about “moments”. To me, I believe a moment is way faster than 1 second. I also believe that we should not take time for granted, that we have to use it wisely. I will save the topic of “Moment” for another essay.
I am bringing this matter up, yet again. Am I making myself a believer? I wonder… I am fascinated with time. The big question I have, that has always been on my mind is, how long is a moment? How do we quantify a moment?
Though there seems to be much written about it by renowned scientists and researchers the world over; I am not altogether convinced with their findings and explanations. To me, they are at best, theories. I, myself; cannot explain it or put words to it; but I know there seems much more than there is written about “moments”….Even though, they are just that, “moments”. I mean we know that a minute has 60 seconds, a day has 24 hours, a year has 12 months, etc; but a moment…not quite there just yet. That leaves room for me to add my views of what a moment is made up of.
So, this weekend is upon us now, Yay! Last weekend, Jeannie, The Batik Influencer and I, the Hatted Writer; had another fun-filled weekend at the booth we manned In Amcorp Mall.
The Batik Influencer had a whole new range of her JEANNIE’S OWN Batik Cape Creations on show. Needless to say that the very limited numbers of the capes were fast snapped up.

Fareedah Maricar has become a new friend of the Batik Influencer and me. One of the things that caught my eye was “MARICAR” across her bag. That’s her name. She smiled and said she thought it would be trendy to have her name emblazoned across her bag in big, bold white letters. It is… trendy.

After she purchased a book from me; she had a look at Jeannie’s Batik Cape Creations and thought she’s get one for her daughter. She got her daughter who was somewhere else in the Mall, to come over and try on one of the capes. Her daughter, saw, tried on, liked and bought.

An old friend, Joseph Rocky (as in “Rocky Balboa” from the movie, “Eye of the Tiger”, starring Sylvester Stallone), visited our booth with his wife to acquire a copy of my book. We had a good chat. Joseph’s sense of humour has not diminished one single bit. Still witty as ever. And his wife… she just smiles. It was good catching up with him and bringing each other up to speed about our families and lives.

As the weekend starts, we, that is Jeannie, The Batik Influencer and I, the Hatted Writer; will be at Amcorp Mall, same place, Booth F1.08 on the first floor. The latest JEANNIE’S OWN Batik Cape Creations in very limited edition numbers will be made available.
