A FULL DAY

Yesterday, Sunday; was a full day with things to do.

It started with going for mass, alone; at St Thomas More Church, in Subang Jaya*. Jeannie, my wife; left for Kampar, Perak; around the same time for her school Form Five (Year 11) reunion. She was looking forward to meeting with all her schoolmates.

I got home after mass and continued to work on the article, “65, RARING TO GO TO THE NEXT 65” ( https://leatherpotato.com/2023/07/16/65-raring-to-go-to-the-next-65/ ) . I showed my mum and dad some of the pictures from this article while it was in its draft stages. These were pictures of the houses we called home in Petaling Jaya* over 50 years ago. They were both so happy to see these houses in their present state now, after 60 years. Brought back fond memories for them.

I was rushing to meet the article’s deadline for publication, so that I could have some time to drop by at Mid-Valley Megamall to look for a selfie stick to help me get better angled photographs while using my smartphone’s camera. Little did I realize, these selfie sticks are things of the past, as no one uses them. I am not sure if the government has banned the use of them.

However, selfie sticks are made available for the action cameras from GoPro and Insta 360 brands. These selfie sticks are made specifically by GoPro and Insta 360 for their cameras. The Insta 360 X3 camera could be an option. It offers an all round 360 degree view and is also able to capture 360 degree pictures because of its front and back cameras.

Jeannie, on her way back from Kampar; met me at the Mall. By the time we left the mall and got back to Subang Jaya; it was time for dinner.

We had dinner at New Nanking coffee shop (a.k.a. restaurant) in Taipan, USJ Subang Jaya. This is one of the restaurants in Taipan Subang Jaya that is popular and offer fast food. A simple dinner. Jeannie had earlier bought a tray of mixed fruit from Aeon Big while we were at the mall. A fairly impressive tray of fruit. It was selling for 1/2 price @ RM6.90. The fruit included decent sized sweet strawberries, honeydew, pineapple and papaya. I think Jeannie may have bought this tray of fruit because of its attractive packaging. Haha.

The attractive tray with its cover.

I ordered fruit rojak from the stall at the restaurant. We also ordered beef satay. For drinks, we ordered iced local coffee. Now, the rojak was not all that great this time round. The key ingredient – its sauce, which was the reason for me coming back here often to order the rojak; was kind of dry. The person preparing the rojak may be a different person and hence, did not seem to get the concoction quite right.

The beef satay, which was slightly tough; was still good as usual. The delicious peanut sauce that comes with the satay; was quite spicy today and was delicious. The cucumbers and big onions that came as a “side dish”, were fresh and tasted nice.

I think our choice of having kopi ais (Bahasa Malaysia for iced coffee), was a good one. I usually order kopi-o kosong ais (Iced black coffee, no sugar or milk), but today I decided to “let my hair down” (haha); a little bit…just a little bit…still have to have that conservative look. 😁The iced coffee complimented the meal we had. At today’s on-going prices, the whole meal, including drinks, can be considered as reasonably priced. We cannot compare today’s prices with that of a year ago because the price of most of the food items have gone up in tandem with each other.

We got home after dinner and started with our work or preparing for the week ahead.

The time is now 4.05am. I am going to hit the sack. Wishing all you lovely people a great and productive week ahead.

NOTES:
*Subang Jaya and Petaling Jaya are both cities in the state of Selangor, Malaysia.
